Depending on the date I'd think about coming over for the US one - although it would ideally be early autumn when flights are a lot cheaper.

Very happy to go to a UK convention if around though - any chance anyone from over the pond could make it over?

I'd prefer Dayton, seeing as I live here.

I haven't voted since it's not certain I'll still be on assignment in SC when the convention is held in July.

Mike, we may find ourselves having to hold our own auxiliary HPACA pre-convention in Charleston if the final vote goes to Dayton. I haven't been able to spend nearly as much time at Patriot's Point as I've wanted to. I've even thought about taking some time off from work to make a grand tour of the east, starting with USS North Carolina at Wilmington, then Nauticus at Norfolk, then the Antietam Battlefield at Sharpsburg, then another visit to Gettysburg, and finishing up with the Shiloh Battlefield in Tennessee. But I'll have to take a loan out to pay for the gasoline if I decide to take this long trip. |

I haven't voted either because I don't know where I'll be by then.
Scott, Google Maps makes a Charleston-Wilmington-Norfolk-Sharpsburg-Gettysburg-Shiloh-Charleston trip 2,241 miles. At 20mpg and $3.50 per gallon, that's not quite $400. Let me know if you decide to do it, and if I'm still in Norfolk, we can meet up. |

Theodore, I've also given serious thought to doing a battleship subtour -- a dash to Norfolk on a Friday, a Saturday at Nauticus, and then stopping by in
Wilmington on the way back on Sunday. My actual location is Aiken, SC. Depending on my work schedule, it could happen as early as this coming weekend, if I
decided to do it that way.

Assuming nobody offers me a job between now and then, I should be in town this weekend. Contact me through the email address listed on my blog if you decide to
make the trip.
