The baby likes to grab it, this doesnt hurt yet. Right now it is full of vegimite and butter from the alice springs qantas club. I have a trimmer, and use the barber too. The barber always wants to cut it back to no 2 length, but I prefer a bit longer. The thing I hate is the mustache growing over my top lip, gross as anything. I find trimming this with sissors every two weeks and them trimming with a clipper every 4-6 weeks avoids the worst excess. Most of the underground miners have beards at work, and the best miners, shift bosses and mine foremen normally have the biggest beards. Makes it easy to tell who is in charge.

My wife trimmed it for the wedding, I trim the moustache in the middle (over my mouth) about once a week to keep the hair out of my mouth but let the ends grow out so I can wax them into handlebars. Shampoo it in the shower just like you do your hair. Comb it several times a day. Post a pic of you with it. *Patriot first, Conservative second, Republican third. . .*

I keep it short and trim it about once a week along with little touch ups several more times each week (especially the mustache!). I have a Phillips Norelco 9 setting adjustable trimmer that does all this work. I got it for Christmas and it is still going strong on its second charge. I love the thing. SPQA

Scrub well in shower with soap and water or you can get acne in your beard line. Comb every so often as the tangle in your beard is the first thing that will attract food and it will get yanked. This assumes you grow more than a dusting of a beard on your face. Avoid chewing your mustache. It can be habit forming but it is gross. Listen to your significant other regarding this choice. If she "HATES" it. You should probably shave it.

The public explanation is that "God's People" should look professional, not like hippies or bikers. That might have made sense in the sixties but it doesn't now. The unofficial version (widely believed by people like me) is that the C.T. Russell, the founder had a long beard. A lot of his followers had one as well. J.F. Rutherford, who took over when Russell died, made everybody shave as part of establishing his own control over the organization. I grew mine to show they had no control over me. NewGolconda, firstly I work in Haymarket and get haircuts there. Chinese don't tend to be beard people so for the last cut I told them to leave it alone. Secondly, at the local supermarket I got a cheap trimmer that is perfect for those top lip issues! For some reason the cheap trimer is better ( or perhaps more brutal ) than the Remington set up for the top lip trim. More mysteries for the facially hirsute. Thirdly, I heard that somewhere before about the underground miners but can't recall the context. Do they also tend to have crew cuts and ride motorcycles or V8 utes? Thanks all for the responses. Admittedly if I've got a neat beard then I can get away with only shaving every other day, in my opinion. Butif you shave anyaway every day then the saving from not havig to do the beard area s small, and the extra hassle with de-snotting, trimming, and cuting is vastly in excess of the shaving time.

They can be an annoyance, but as I point out to my students, it is easier than carrying a lunchbox everywhere, and the mice have to live somewhere. There'll always be an England.
