I was however disconcerted by the tone of some of the commentary but amazed by Stuart's patience in responding, aided ably by Her Grace. Stuart was sort of accused of "right wing" ( not stated but to me clearly inferred, I wondered to be frank how long that would take ) polemicism etc not only on Armagedon!!!! but also in TBO. A reference to a certain Supreme Court case started a deluge of complaints that the positions taken by the author were not, well, sufficiently progressive. And here was me operating under the usual premise that Stuart asks how people will react to things, not how they should react from a political viewpoint. Personally, this part is setting up some major action on several fronts and was/is an excellent read. Jonathan

I must admit I have had a shot at a poster there who started out by saying the story was boring then introduced further criticisms through, inter alia, masturbation imagery. I resisted advising him to get a room with a mirror, however, but I expect a tasteless, crude and singularly self obsessive response. Ahhh, for the peace and quiet and civilised discourse of this Board. Perhaps one day Mark can tell us how he puts up with that crap, although I have read him get stick into posters there before, calling them "retards"! Anyway, another good part. Enjoy Jonathan

In my experience the insults on SDN are just local flavour. Not a very pleasant flavour, but I suppose it can be entertaining for spectators and allows angry people to blow off steam. It only really gets annoying when the more self-important members claim that this style of discussion is inherently superior and that SDN is the ideal forum for all debates. I read Stas Bush's short story and found it quite interesting. I can't say the same for IP's story, it is competing in a dense market. As for the tone of the insults, perhaps I just prefer the to be a little more, how you say it, "high browed"? As in here, I suppose. Maybe I'm a little sensitive except when I am on WAB! However, for those who prefer their insults to be a little cruder, I would recommend that SB and IP see how Misha I does it, but Mishas' politics would generally have IP and DW ( re Israel ) etc foaming at the mouth and twitching with barely controlled bodily functions! If you're going to cuss, do so with the inventiveness of a drill sergeant etc or like the Senior Chief, who would probably consider that a lot of people on SDN are "damned democrats"! Anyway, the recent parts seem to be setting the scene for some really major action - Tatarus, Detroit, the attack on the entrenched Russian et al units in hell etc. and the continuing problem of Yahweh. With TBOverse now back on line and Armageddon!!! going like a steam train, I for one am one happy black duck as I really like Stuart's writing and ideas - TBO brought me to this Board in the first place and thereafter I felt somewhat "at home"! Lord only nows how Stuart finds time for all of this but I am grateful that he does. Plus, TLW is ongoing:) Jonathan
