As I've understood it, the Egyptian incident(s) happened when storm-hit ships dragged anchors through 'no parking' zone.
I suppose this in-shore damage is common, especially if trenching is limited, and erosion of the receding delta was accelerated by the storm... IMHO, it was just accidental this time. Of course, it might prompt wicked notions... FWIW, the infamous Baltic Hack attributed to 'Russian Plot' by local Conspiracy Theorists turned out to be a common-or-garden Nutty Nationalist, who was easily traced and caught. His doings were about as 'Professional' as the 'Mad Scotsman' who sent tainted vodka to a couple of local politicos, but left a fingerprint on the label he'd typed and was instantly recognisable on local booze-shop's CCTV... |
